I think it's safe to say (without jinxing it) that spring weather has almost arrived in Seattle. We've had a couple of beautiful days the last few weeks and it's gotten me excited for sunshine and warmer temperatures!
In order to prepare for (or perhaps you're already experiencing) Spring, I thought I'd share my list of pieces that are must haves for the season and how you can maximize what you've already got in your wardrobe.
Sweaters + Tops
Silk blouse (here or cute floral one here)
Pants
Slim pants (here, in black or a fun color)
Skirts + Dresses
Pencil skirt (here, in so many colors)
Cocktail / Special occasion dress (something slightly formal here and here, or a little more bridal-shower-casual here, here and here)
Outerwear
Shoes
Wedges (here or just got a coral pair of these on sale!)
Evening pumps or sandals (not-economical-but-great-investment option here, or here)
Bags
Work satchel or shoulder bag (here or here)
Don't forget to accessorize with statement necklaces (remember these?), fun bracelets, or even a printed and/or colorful belt to zhuzh up your outfit. Some key tricks to Spring ensembles:
- It's all about layering, especially if you live somewhere where the weather can evolve as the day goes on (camis under thin sweaters, gauzy scarves, canvas or leather jackets are essential)
- Make the transition from heavier knits to lighter-weight fabrics (like linen and silk)
- Incorporate colors by starting with neutrals, then adding brighter accents (like neon!) and accessories
- Don't be afraid of prints (I'm working on it)---Spring is a great time for florals, tribals, stripes... bring it on!
