My mom and I went shopping for a baby gift yesterday and went to my all-time favorite place to buy children's clothing—babyGap!  I love shopping there because you can typically find great stuff on sale, and if you have a Gap Card you can save even more.  Plus, everything is 100 times cuter when it's a tiny, mini version of something you might buy for yourself.

I'm so sorry I've been MIA!  The last couple of months have been devoted to wedding planning and wedding execution.  Now that the big day has come and gone, I am back to being in full Wak In Closet mode and excited to share fashion news, more tips n' tricks and other style-related inspiration with you.


We'll start off with something hot off the press—Zara announced today that they'll be launching their US e-commerce site on September 7th!  In the last several years, Seattle has been fortunate to become home to retailers like the beloved H&M, Madewell, Neiman Marcus and Aritzia (from our friends up north).  The one brand we don't have yet is Zara.


Zara is always on my list of stores to visit any time I'm in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Vancouver... basically anywhere but here!  And I was lucky enough to pick up a few things when I was traveling this spring.  But I'm dying for them to land some real estate in town or get their e-commerce site up and running sooner than September so I can get my hands on some of these items...

j.crew's 770/behind the line + prabal gurung collection

I've confessed my love (obsession...) for J.Crew several times (here, here and here).  When I received their most recent email, I was intrigued by a small banner going across the bottom which promoted "770/Behind The Line - A glimpse behind the design: inspiration, style and musings here at 770 (AKA the home base for J.Crew)."  I clicked through and discovered that J.Crew has quietly (unless I completely missed the memo) launched a blog in March!

770/Behind The Line is awesome—and like all things J.Crew, I love it.  Their post today was about Prabal Gurung's capsule collection for the J.Crew + CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund collaboration which launched online and in select stores today.  The results are some incredibly sleek and refined basics with remarkable details.  Here are my three favorites out of the six piece collection.

A couple of months ago, ASOS, one of my favorite online retailers based in the U.K. launched a U.S. site offering free shipping and returns on all orders.  I was ecstatic!  They have a huge selection of apparel, shoes and accessories at reasonable prices, and even offer up brands that aren't so easy to get here in Seattle like French Connection and Reiss (along with their own in-house brand).  I also love that they carry a variety of fits—Curve, Petite and Maternity.

I've only purchased one thing since then, but with summer on its way (any day now?) I've got my eye on a few items...

Happy belated Mother's Day to all of you mamas out there!  I hope you were showered with flowers, chocolates, gift cards to the spa, and of course some hugs and kisses.  I heart my mother (she's the reason behind my love for fashion and style, after all). 

I also heart MOTHER—a new denim line I discovered at Nordstrom when I had a couple of Nordie's notes set aside for a rainy day.  I had been looking for a new pair of jeans, and knew I wanted to embrace the wide-leg trend for spring in a darker wash.  When I came across this pair, it was heart at first sight.

Even though we should technically be out of sweater weather, the temperatures in the northwest are still hovering in the 40s and 50s, requiring us to continue layering and stay warm. Luckily, stores are still in a seasonal transition so sweaters are not so hard to find. And for whatever reason, I've really been gravitating towards cropped ones—maybe the shorter length makes it more appropriate for spring? Here are some of my faves...

I know I've been talking about spring recently (here and here), but when I saw Refinery29's slideshow on J.Crew's Fall 2011 lookbook, I just about died.  The combination of colors, textures and the handsome femininity are impeccable.

I'm considering these inspiration for looks that can tie me over as the weather in Seattle continues to be dreary and grey... but also SO looking forward to the beautiful pieces that will hit J.Crew's stores come September!
